Understanding Transparency in Coverage

At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana, we want to help you better understand your health care coverage. That’s why we provide the following transparent coverage information for members who purchase individual and family health plans. 

Individual On-Exchange Coverage

If you enrolled in your health insurance plan directly with BCBSMT or through the Health Insurance Marketplace, the following information is for you. Review our plan brochures for an overview of our Marketplace plans. Please note that the information in our plan brochures is general. Your specific plan may have some differences:

You’ll be able to review key high-level information for each plan via the Montana Plan Information documents linked above.  Within those documents you can review the Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) documents, which include cost sharing provisions, coverage limitations and exceptions, and links to the plan’s Member Contract.

Other Types of Coverage

If you didn’t purchase your health insurance plan directly from BCBSMT or through the Health Insurance Marketplace,  but have questions about that coverage, here’s how to reach us:

  • Coverage through your job: If you have questions about your plan, please contact your employer’s HR department or call BCBSMT at the number listed on your member ID card. You can also log in to your account to access your plan information.
  • Coverage from Medicare or Medicaid: If you have a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan through us, please refer to your plan's benefit materials. You may also call the number listed on your BCBSMT member ID card.
