Stronger Together

Living Our Purpose

Our more than 500 Montana employees are committed to standing with our members and communities, through it all. And they bring this commitment to life in their work and with thousands of hours as volunteers.

In Our Communities

Showing up in our communities is a vital part of our culture. In 2024, 145 employees volunteered more than 5,100 hours with 152 nonprofit organizations across Montana. By logging their hours with our Blue CorpsSM program, they generated more than $30,000 in matching donations for 28 organizations.

Sam Alpert, an infrastructure executive support analyst and BCBSMT’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year, volunteered more than 200 hours in 2024.

For the past 15 years, Alpert has volunteered at Tri-Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. He manages their medical response unit and social media outreach, providing emergency medical, fire and rescue services for more than 100 square miles of state, federal and private lands.

“Find something you’re passionate about and dive in,” Alpert says. “There are plenty of opportunities within your community, and they need the help.”

Celebrating Unique Perspectives

Recognizing, respecting and celebrating unique experiences and perspectives helps our employees better serve our members and offer products and services that meet their needs.

In 2024, more than 100 employees participated in one or more of our four Business Resource Groups.

The BRGs provide all employees the opportunity to connect with others who share similar interests, fostering a sense of community inside and outside of work. The groups engage in community-focused volunteer activities and provide a critical connection to the business.
