When you have prescription and pharmacy benefits through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana, there are multiple ways to get your prescriptions. 

Prices you pay for drugs at network pharmacies will be less than those at other pharmacies. Your pharmacy network includes nationwide drugstores, grocery store chains and locally-owned drugstores.

Prime Therapeutics and You

Your prescription drugs and how you access them are a big part of your health insurance. BCBSMT uses Prime Therapeutics as its pharmacy benefit manager (PBM). Prime handles prescription claims, oversees pre-approvals, builds drugstore networks, and develops drug lists.

Not all members have Prime as their PBM. To find out, check your ID Card or log into BAM.

After searching, you can filter the the results by 90-day supply pharmacies, drugstores that are open 24 hours, pharmacies offering vaccines, and more to find the right one for you.

Search Without Logging In*

You can find a pharmacy without logging into your BAM account by searching on MyPrime.  But you'll need some details about your benefits or plan first.

If you have a BCBSMT Medicare Advantage plan, you'll need to know the name of your plan before you search on MyPrime

For all other BCBSMT plans, you'll need to know your pharmacy network before you search on MyPrime .

Ways to Access Your Prescriptions

If you have prescription and pharmacy benefits with BCBSMT, you have multiple ways to get the medications you need. There are different types of pharmacies in your network. They include national retail chains, local neighborhood drugstores, and independent and specialty pharmacies. You can even have some medications shipped to your home for free.

Retail Pharmacies

Retail pharmacies are often national chain pharmacies. They may be in stand-alone buildings or part of a grocery store. They can include regional and local pharmacies too.

You can choose to have some types of medications mailed to your home like maintenance drugs that treat longer-term conditions and specialty drugs that treat serious or chronic conditions.

Specialty medicines treat certain complex, chronic conditions. They may have special handling or storage needs that retail pharmacies can't manage easily.

Vaccines can help protect you from the flu, pneumonia, shingles, COVID and more. You can get many vaccines at a pharmacy near you. Members can search for vaccine pharmacies in their pharmacy network.

Value Pharmacy Network

Did you know that if your BCBSMT plan has a Value Pharmacy Network, you can save money when you use a contracted value pharmacy? In fact, you may pay as little as zero dollars. 

By using a value pharmacy, you may pay the lowest copay or coinsurance amount. Need a ninety-day supply of a non-specialty covered drug? Just visit any value retail pharmacy in the Value Pharmacy Network.

You may know these value pharmacies in the Value Pharmacy Network: Albertsons, Osco Pharmacy, Safeway, Walgreens and Walmart.

Log in to BAM, click on the Pharmacy tab and search for an in-network pharmacy near you.
