Member ID FAQs

You should get your new member ID card in the mail soon after you enroll with BCBSMT and your application is approved. If you have to make a first premium payment, like with an Individual and Family plan, you may have to pay that before your member ID card is mailed.

After your card is mailed, it should take less than 2 weeks to arrive at your mailbox.

PPO members will get just 1 or 2 member ID cards for a household. HMO Individual and Family plans will get a member ID card for each member enrolled, including dependents.

Remember, each member ID card shows only the subscriber’s name but can be used by all dependents covered by the policy. 

​Find your digital member ID card by logging in to your account online. If you download through the BCBSMT App, you can even add it to your phone’s wallet.

Most member ID cards only have the name of your plan’s main subscriber, or “primary insured” member. However, they can be used by any dependent or partner, like a spouse or child, covered by the policy.

If your card is lost or it went missing in the mail, access it from your online account or print out a temporary card. To print a temporary card:

• Log in to your online account.
• If you don’t already have a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana account, it’s easy to register. Click Activate Your Account and follow the steps. Just make sure you have your group and member numbers handy to register.
• Once you’re logged in, click the “Member ID Card” button from the dashboard.

If you renewed your coverage and have the same plan type, you can normally use your old member ID card. However, if you changed coverage types, employers or plan, you should use your new plan's information.

If you're not a new BCBSMT member, you should be able to find your most up-to-date ID card in your online account. Your account username and password stay the same year-to-year, even if your plan changes. 

To find your member ID number, group number or updated digital member ID card, log in to your account or open the BCBSMT App.

You can. If you have a smartphone, you can find a digital member ID card in the BCBSMT App. You can also download and store it in your phone’s wallet.

Take it with you wherever, whenever to:

• Check in for care at a doctor, dentist, lab or other provider
• Pick up prescriptions

Having your digital ID card in your phone’s wallet helps you access your membership information even if you don’t have good reception or an internet connection.

To download the card to your wallet, tap on the member ID card icon in the BCSBMT App. Then click on the download icon at the top right corner to add it to our mobile wallet. To share from the mobile wallet to your provider, find it in your wallet and either show them the screen or click the share icon.

Yes, you can. Most doctor offices or health care centers will accept a digital member ID card. Find your digital ID in the BCBSMT App. With the BCBSMT App, your ID card and all your coverage information is available 24/7 in the palm of your hand.

The only way to request a new BCBSMT member ID card without logging in to your online account is to call Customer Service. If you've misplaced your member ID card, visit our Contact Us page to find the Customer Service number for your plan.
