Why a One-Time Passcode?

Protecting Your Account

You may have noticed that there’s an extra step when you log in to your Blue Access for MembersSM account. That’s because Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana wants to keep your information safe.

Your BAM account includes private health and financial information, and we pledge to keep that information safe. The one-time passcode is a security feature we’ve added to protect your account from hackers, malicious actors and cyber threats.

We know this is an extra step. After logging in to BAM, and entering a one-time verification code, you will have the option to check a box and skip this step on that device for 30 days.

However, there are some reasons you may have to reauthenticate during the 30-day window:

  • If you switch devices, such as from a laptop to a tablet.
  • If you switch internet browsers.
  • If you regularly clean your internet browser’s cache/history.

You can choose how you’d like to authenticate. We can send a one-time passcode:

  • To the email address in your user profile.
  • By text message to the mobile number in your user profile. You can add one at any time.

We appreciate you working with us to keep your information safe. If you are ready to authenticate, log in to BAM.
