An HSA is a Consumer Directed Health Plan (CDHP) where you use pre-tax dollars in the account to pay for qualified medical expenses, including dental and vision services.
You can only have an HSA if you also have a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). HDHPs are available to consumers looking for individual and family Marketplace plans and to employees whose company or employer offers such plans.
You own your HSA and the money in it. You can take your HSA account with you, even if you change jobs, change health plans or retire.
