Billing & Payment FAQs

If you have an Individual and Family plan, you can make your first premium payment online using your social security number and date of birth. Go to Pay My Bill and click First-Time Payment. If you have a Medicare plan, there are several ways you can pay your premium. Go to Medicare Payments to choose they way that’s best for you.

Here are convenient ways you can pay your bill:

Online

• Log in to your Blue Access for Members℠ account and select Billing and Payments to be redirected to the secure website for completing a payment by card.

Auto Bill Pay 

• To set up a recurring monthly payment, log in to your account and select Billing and Payments.

Phone

• To make a one-time payment over the phone, go to Contact Us to find the phone number to call for your health plan.
• You’ll need your BCBSMT member ID number, bank routing number and bank account number to complete your one-time payment by phone.

Mail 

• Pay by mail with a personal check, cashier’s check or money order.  

To do so, be sure you:

• Make the check payable to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana or BCBSMT.
• Write your account/member ID number on your check, cashier’s check or money order.
• Include the payment coupon that was sent to you with your bill. 
• Send your payment at least five business days before the payment due date to ensure it posts to your account in time.
• Mail your payment to the address on your bill.

In-Person

• The in-person option is not available for your first payment. Following payments can be made with cash at MoneyGram^®*
• MoneyGram locations in Walmart and Albertsons stores also take debit card payments.
• Bring a copy of your bill, which includes your account or billing ID number and your "receive code" with your payment.

Never worry about forgetting to pay your monthly health plan premium. To sign up for Auto Bill Pay, log in to your BAM account and go to the Billing and Payments section. If you need help, go to our contact page to see the phone number for your plan. 

Your first premium payment will activate your coverage. You can begin using your health plan within one or two days after your payment has processed — depending on the way you paid your premium. 

The easiest and most secure way  to make a payment is through BAM. Log in to your account and go to Make a Payment. If you have an Individual and Family plan, you can also go to the Pay My Bill page on this site and click the One-Time Payment button. 

If you have a Medicare plan, visit Make a Payment. 

We apologize for our error in drafting your bank account twice for your premium payment. This occurs when we have two active policies for you in our system.  

Call our billing office at 1-800-792-8595 to report the error so we can correct it, if we haven't already.  

We will mail a refund check for the overpayment amount within five days of correcting the error. If you don't see it soon, please give us a call. In addition, if you had overdraft fees because of the double billing, please call our billing office so we can refund these charges.

You have two ways to cancel one of the plans:  

• To cancel your Marketplace plan, call the Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596. We can’t process cancellations of Marketplace plans. 

• To cancel our off-Marketplace plan, call Customer Service at 1-800-447-7828. You can also log in to your BAM account and send us a secure email message. Either way you reach us, we’ll process the cancellation for you. 

A policy is automatically cancelled for nonpayment of its premium. You can simply pay the premium for the plan you want to keep, and not pay the premium for the plan you want to cancel.
