Billing & Payment FAQs

You can make your first premium payment online using your social security number and date of birth. Visit the Pay My Bill page and click “First-Time Payment.”

Here are convenient ways you can pay your bill:

Online

• Log in to your account and select Billing and Payments to be redirected to the secure website for completing a payment by card.

Auto Bill Pay 

• Set up a recurring monthly payment by logging in to your account and selecting Payments and Billing to manage Auto Bill Pay, or by calling Customer Service toll free at 1-855-258-8471.

Phone

• Make a one-time payment over the phone by calling Customer Service at 855-258-8471 and select Make a Payment.
• You’ll need to have your BCBSMT member ID number, bank routing number and bank account number. 

Mail 

• Pay by mail with a personal check, cashier’s check or money order.  

To do so, be sure you:

• Make the check payable to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana or BCBSMT.
• Write your account/member ID number on your check, cashier’s check or money order.
• Include the payment coupon that was sent to you with your bill. 
• Send your payment at least 5 business days before the payment due date to make sure timely posting to your account.
• Mail your payment to the address on your bill.

In-Person

• The in-person option is not available for your first payment. Following payments can be made with cash at MoneyGram^®* 
• MoneyGram locations in Walmart and Albertsons stores also take debit card payments.
• Bring a copy of your bill, which includes your account or billing ID number and your "receive code," with your payment.

Never worry about forgetting to pay your monthly health plan premium. You can sign up for Auto Bill Pay by logging in to your Blue Access for Members^SM  account and visiting the Payments and Billing section. If you need help, call Customer Service at 1-855-258-8471.

Your very first premium payment will activate your coverage. You can begin using your health plan within one to two days of your payment processing—depending on the way you choose to pay your premium. 

The easiest and most secure way is to log in to your Blue Access for Members^SM account and go to the Payments and Billing section. You can also go to the Pay My Bill page on this site and click the “One-Time Payment” button. 

We apologize for our error in drafting your bank account twice for your premium payment. This occurs when we have two active policies for you in our system, which pulls your records twice when the automated drafts were processed.  

Call our billing office at 1-800-792-8595 to report this so we can correct the error in our system, if we haven't already, so this will not happen again.  

We will mail a refund check for the overpayment amount within 5 days of correcting the error. If you don't see it soon, please give us a call. In addition, if you had overdraft fees because of the double billing, please call our billing office so we can refund these charges as well.

You have two ways to cancel one of the plans:  

• If you want to cancel your Marketplace plan, you can call the Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596. We can’t process cancellations of Marketplace plans. 

• If you want to cancel our off-Marketplace plan, we can process that cancellation for you. Call Customer Service at 1-800-538-8833. You can also log in to your Blue Access for Members account and send us a secure email message. Either way you reach us, we’ll process the cancellation for you. 

A policy will also automatically be cancelled for nonpayment if you don't pay the premium. You would simply pay the premium for the plan you want to keep and not pay the premium for the plan you want to cancel.

To make sure your account info isn’t stolen, you can’t make an address change online. Please call Customer Service at the number listed on your BCBSMT member ID card for help updating your address. 

You can change your banking information by logging in to Blue Access for Members and visiting the Payments and Billing section.
